Since the beginning of November my work can now be found in Carluccio’s restaurants throughout the UK! I was asked by Irving & Co. to illustrate a series of products for their Christmas range, with the classic Panettone Christmas cake being the star piece.
I created 2 panoramic images for the Panettone boxes which are based on the rolling hills and colourful Italian villages that make up the Piemonte landscape where the cakes are produced.
There is a nighttime and a daytime version, each produced respectively for the Chocolate and Traditional cakes.
I also worked on some Christmas gift boxes for the shop, which included amoungst others ‘Vin Santo e Cantucci’ and ‘Lui e Lei’.
I was lucky enough to visit the region where Carluccios pasta and olive oil was produced and was able to sit and draw the lady of the house as she rolled out, then cut, cooked and stuffed fresh pasta with ricotta and pesto for all of us.
Here are some official product photos as well that show how some just how well produced the product is. I’m really happy with how the gold details compliment the lighter tones in the illustration.
The “tradizionale” is above, along with the “cioccolato” underneath.
Here are a few instore photos from their flagship store in Covent Garden where the Panettone boxes have been pilled up all around the shop.
Thanks again to Carluccios and Irving and Co for the great commission and collaboration. It’ll be my first Christmas with an italian Christmas cake and I can’t wait!
