The latest issue of National Geographic Traveller (Dec 2015) is now out in all UK newsagents and features an illustration I produced for an article about an encounter in Damascus, Syria. The story happened before the current chaos overtook Syria and portrays a very welcoming scene at a bus station in Damascus with a Syrian man on crutches called Charlie. The story ended with Charlie waving goodbye to the writer as he leaves the city on a bus without any idea of what was soon to hit the country.
Here is a before and after, from sketch to final. I still like the sketched out version, in some ways more than the final!
